Arizona Cardinals Grant Jacoby Brissett Significant Pay Raise

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett has secured a substantial pay increase from the Arizona Cardinals. Unlike typical negotiations, Brissett was not seeking a contract extension, but a raise for the 2026 NFL season, where he expects to be the starting quarterback. Initially set to earn $4.88 million, Brissett will now receive $15.5 million, with potential earnings reaching $21 million based on incentives.

“It’s not about being the highest paid, it’s about feeling valued,” said a source close to Brissett.

This decision followed the release of Kyler Murray, who moved to the Minnesota Vikings, placing Brissett as the front-runner for the starting position. While his pay is not at the level of top quarterbacks, Brissett appears pleased with the agreement.

Previously, Brissett had opted out of spring workouts but attended training camp, indicating hopes for a resolution. Coach Mike LaFleur has taken over from Jonathan Gannon, with Brissett leading after Murray’s departure. The team also added Miami’s Carson Beck and signed Gardner Minshew II for competitive training camp roles.

Brissett stepped up as the starter in the 2025 season after Murray’s injury. His performance improved the offense’s efficiency, benefitting teammates like tight end Trey McBride and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

The upcoming season will be crucial for Brissett, who aims to strengthen his position with the Cardinals before entering free agency post-2026. His rapport with new additions, such as running back Jeremiyah Love, enhances his prospects. However, competition remains, as he must vie with Minshew and Beck for the starting role in the first game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Brissett is actively participating in training camp, although not yet in full practice sessions. The pay raise is a step towards solidifying his standing, though he needs to prove his worth during preseason.
