1 month ago 0

After more than 25 years as a staple of Universal Orlando, the Lost Continent is starting to close in phases at Islands of Adventure. Demolition has commenced, with reports mentioning an excavator seen near a pile of debris.

A Universal Orlando representative stated, “Venues and experiences within Lost Continent will close in phases to allow for a new themed area.” Mythos Restaurant is set to shut in 2027.

The Lost Continent, established in 1999, helped shape the park’s identity with its mythological design and storytelling. It became known for its fantasy themes, special effects, and live shows.

Notable attractions included the Dueling Dragons coasters, later renamed Dragon Challenge, famous for their intertwined layout and near-miss thrills. These rides paved the way for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.

Poseidon’s Fury, another highlight, amazed visitors with water tunnels and fiery effects. The area also hosted the Eighth Voyage of Sinbad live show. Over time, Universal gradually removed these features.

Universal disclosed that its Horror Make-Up Show would also close temporarily for renovation, promising a mix of classic and modern horror themes.

In 2027, Universal plans to introduce Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a new roller coaster based on the successful film series.

The phased closure of the Lost Continent generated varied reactions. One Reddit user expressed relief, citing the need for change, while fans on TikTok mourned the end of the beloved themed land.
