On August 9, Chabad will organize what could be the largest Jewish virtual speed dating event globally, connecting 13,000 singles from over 30 countries. This event follows Tu B’Av, a Jewish festival associated with love and matchmaking. Each participant is assessed by a local rabbi or a rebbetzin, while AI assists in arranging five rounds of one-on-one video dates, blending technological efficiency with human judgment.

Chabad’s initiative is not to replace technology but to complement it with human interaction, which many singles feel is absent in today’s dating scene. Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos 302, emphasizes that AI’s ability to match people based on interests and values needs the human element for authenticity.
