After more than ten years away from live performances, Rush made their return on June 7 in Los Angeles. This concert kicked off their Fifty Something tour, their first since August 2015. The tour is especially significant as it marks the first time Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson have toured together since the unfortunate passing of their iconic drummer, Neil Peart, in 2020. Anika Nilles, a talented drummer, has stepped in to fill Peart’s shoes.
The show began with a performance of “Xanadu” from their 1977 album, “A Farewell To Kings.” This opening choice was unique as Rush had never started a tour with this track before, making it a memorable moment for fans.
The concert featured classic Rush songs such as “Limelight,” “Freewill,” and “The Spirit of the Radio.” The event had two distinct sets, and during the second, fans enjoyed selections from the 1976 album “2112,” including “Overture” and “Grand Finale.” The night closed with a special segment featuring characters from the TV show South Park introducing the hit song “Tom Sawyer.”

The band paid tribute to Neil Peart during the concert. A video montage honored Peart, featuring audio clips of him discussing his passion for drumming and how he began his journey. The tribute also included a performance of “Bravado” from the “Roll the Bones” album, dedicated to Peart’s memory.
