Fatal Car Crash in Irvine Claims Two Lives, Including Car Show Co-Founder

On Sunday morning, a high-speed car crash in Irvine resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals, as reported by police and social media. One of the victims was associated with a notable car show in Orange County. This event, held weekly in San Clemente, draws thousands of participants.

According to a news release from the Irvine police, the incident involved a 2019 McLaren. The crash occurred near Culver Drive and Deerfield Avenue at 12:18 a.m. The car had been halted at a red light before speeding off as the light changed. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to jump a curb and collide with a tree. The impact split the car in two and ignited a fire.

The authorities have yet to disclose the identities of the victims. However, an Instagram post from “South OC Cars and Coffee” identified one victim as James Wehr, aged 27, who co-founded the group. This car show is noted for attracting numerous performance and muscle cars, according to its website.

The Instagram post stated, “This morning, just after midnight, we lost our darling son and brother James, in a motor accident. We respectfully ask for privacy as a family, as we process this profound loss.”
