Detransitioner Criticizes Senate Candidate for Exclusion

1 day ago 0

Detransitioner Soren Aldaco expressed disappointment after being unable to attend a CNN town hall with Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico. Aldaco claimed her request to participate was only addressed the night before the event, and she was told she could not attend.

During “The Katie Miller Podcast,” Katie Miller interviewed Aldaco, a 23-year-old detransitioner. Aldaco discussed how she felt groomed online and pursued medical treatment as a teenager. She criticized Talarico, stating, “He needs to have a real face-to-face conversation with someone like me.” Aldaco attempted to join the town hall where Talarico used a “prove me wrong” format, hoping to engage him on issues related to gender transition. However, she received a response too late, being told, “you can’t talk to him.”

Talarico allegedly dismissed past comments about God and gender as “provocative.” Aldaco felt ignored after multiple attempts to discuss relevant bills. CNN and Jubilee Media hosted the October 14 town hall with Talarico, where he faced audience queries and moderation by Erin Burnett.

Aldaco’s case gained traction after the Texas Supreme Court ruled on June 26. It reversed a lower court decision, allowing her to pursue claims against a therapist and counseling provider. The court found her lawsuit was not “time-barred” under the state’s statute of limitations for healthcare liability claims.

Miller questioned Aldaco on Talarico’s positions on gender transition policies. Aldaco stated, “He fails to acknowledge the repercussions of past mistakes,” referencing Talarico’s admission of misinformation regarding gender definitions.

CNN did not comment on Fox News Digital’s inquiries. During the town hall, Talarico addressed past controversial statements, including describing God as “nonbinary” and using the Bible to support pro-choice views. He affirmed his belief in the Bible as the “absolute source of truth.”

Republican small business owner Sarah Gardner questioned Talarico’s faith, citing his comments on gender and the Bible. Talarico responded affirmatively to the Bible’s authority, noting the early church’s varying interpretations.

Talarico explained his remarks as responses to “Republican extremism.” He argued his initial legislative focus was on public education, not gender issues, attributing the focus shift to extremist discussions in the Capitol.

Talarico’s campaign and Fox News’s Hanna Panreck contributed to this report, yet his team did not respond to a request for comment.
