Marco Rubio Shares Lighthearted Views on Diets and Memes

Secretary of State Marco Rubio humorously expressed his fondness for Pop-Tarts while dismissing Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s diet during a podcast interview. Appearing on ‘The Katie Miller Podcast’ with his wife, Jeanette, Rubio joked about Kennedy’s diet of ‘red meat and fermented vegetables.’

‘This is a crazy diet,’ Rubio said, adding that Kennedy’s habit of traveling with coolers of sauerkraut was unrealistic for him. ‘I’m not going to travel the world with a cooler full of sauerkraut. It’s ridiculous,’ he quipped.

Despite the jokes, Rubio showed support for Kennedy’s ‘Make America Healthy Again’ movement. His wife, however, pointed out his love for sweets, teasing that he enjoys Pop-Tarts. ‘No, I don’t eat Pop-Tarts every day,’ Rubio responded, but jokingly called them ‘one of the great American innovations.’

Fox News Digital attempted to reach both the Health and Human Services secretary and Mars Inc., which owns the Pop-Tarts brand, for comments but received no immediate response.

Looking towards the future, Rubio is viewed as a potential 2028 presidential candidate. In a New Hampshire poll, he trailed only 10 points behind Vice President JD Vance in a hypothetical matchup.

Alongside his political ambitions, Rubio became part of a viral meme. The image showed him on an Oval Office couch during an event with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During an interview on ‘My View with Lara Trump,’ Rubio addressed how the meme gained traction. Initially displeased with the image, he later found humor in its widespread circulation. ‘It’s funny,’ he acknowledged.
