He recorded nine receptions on 11 targets, accumulating 101 yards and a touchdown. This marked his first regular-season game exceeding 100 receiving yards since November 4, 2024, when he played against the Houston Texans. Kelce also achieved 117 yards against the Texans during the playoffs on January 18, 2025.
At 36, Kelce acknowledges he may not perform at the same level as he did a decade ago. However, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid noted some added motivation might come from Kelce’s personal life. Reid commented, “Trav worked his tail off. He probably mentioned it after the game that he put in a lot of work. He appreciates his teammates, which motivates him to stay competitive.” Reid referenced Kelce’s recent marriage to Taylor Swift, suggesting that her demanding career might inspire Kelce to stay in peak condition.
Taylor Swift has attended both of the Chiefs’ games this year. During the clash against the Colts, she showed her support by displaying her wedding ring when Kelce scored a touchdown and joyfully cheering, “That’s my husband.” Reid explained Kelce’s commitment to maintaining his physical fitness, emphasizing his focus on body strength, which has helped him maintain his explosiveness.
The Chiefs narrowly defeated the Colts 33-30, advancing to a 2-0 record for the season.
