DeLand Police discovered the bodies of 19-year-old Dustin Rose and 18-year-old Samson Campbell late on July 29. The U.S. Marshals Service arrested the unnamed 17-year-old suspect on Wednesday after authorities obtained a warrant. Police noted that the three individuals were acquainted with each other.
The suspect has a significant criminal record, including charges for assault with a deadly weapon, multiple battery charges, and drug possession. Many charges were reportedly dropped or resulted in probation. Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood criticized the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit for the lack of prosecution in previous cases.
