Tan Mom’s Encounter with ICE Agents Stirs Controversy

2 hours ago 0

Patricia Krentcil, often referred to as the “Tan Mom,” recently shared her unsettling interaction with federal immigration agents. This encounter emerged during her appearance on the “Light. Tan. Up.” podcast, alongside actor Tom Arnold. Krentcil claims that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents stopped her as she left a restaurant with friends. They allegedly questioned her U.S. citizenship due to her deeply tanned skin.

“As we’re walking out, the ICE people stopped me and they asked me, ‘Am I an American citizen?'” Krentcil recounted. “And I’m like, ‘Yes.’ You know, like it blew my mind.” The incident almost escalated to Krentcil being detained. She noted, “Because I was so tan, they were about to handcuff me … and take me away. God knows where.”

Krentcil expressed her fear of being detained and possibly taken to an unknown location. She stated, “Once you get in those trucks, you don’t know where you’re going anymore. I was scared, but I held my own and I got out of the situation.” She criticized the authorities for what she perceives as discriminatory practices related to skin color and nationality.

The tanning enthusiast rose to prominence in the 2010s due to her distinct bronzed complexion. Krentcil gained national attention in 2012 when she faced charges of child endangerment. Authorities accused her of taking her daughter, then five years old, into a tanning salon’s booth. The incident caused her daughter to reportedly appear at school with sunburns, leading to a media outcry over Krentcil’s tanning habits.

The legal case concluded without an indictment, as an Essex County grand jury chose not to indict Krentcil in 2013, and charges were subsequently dropped. Krentcil now resides in Florida, where she continues to embrace her iconic tan.

ICE has yet to respond to requests for comments on Krentcil’s claims. Jasmine Baehr, a breaking news writer for Fox News Digital, reported this story, focusing on politics, military, legal debates, and cultural issues.
