Sen. Ted Cruz Warns of Far-Left Shift if Abdul El-Sayed Wins Senate Race

A high-stakes Senate race in Michigan has drawn warnings from Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. He claims that if Abdul El-Sayed wins, it will lead to a major far-left shift within the party.

Cruz argues that Democratic leaders fear radical elements with influence and funding. He cautions that an El-Sayed victory in 2026 might pave the way for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a presidential contender in 2028.

In a statement, Cruz suggested that Abdul El-Sayed’s election could jeopardize American lives. He speculated that El-Sayed, if elected, might use U.S. intelligence information inappropriately, posing a risk to national security.

“If Abdul El-Sayed becomes the senator from Michigan, there is absolutely nothing to stop Chuck Schumer from placing Abdul El-Sayed on the Senate Intelligence Committee. The Senate Intelligence Committee has access to our most closely-guarded secrets. And if I am correct that he is a passionate supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood, there is a very real risk that Americans will die as a result,” Cruz warned.

Cruz expressed concerns about American service members currently engaged with Muslim Brotherhood operatives. He suggested that El-Sayed might compromise counter-terrorism efforts.

During a campaign rally in Michigan, Cruz spoke alongside Republican candidate Mike Rogers on October 28, 2026. Fox News Digital reached out for comments from the El-Sayed and Rogers campaigns, but neither responded immediately.

In a conversation with Fox News’ Bret Baier, El-Sayed defended himself, stating he has never been affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood. “I am interested in serving the United States. I’m interested in swearing an oath to the Constitution that every senator has sworn an oath to,” El-Sayed declared.

El-Sayed is up against Mike Rogers, a candidate endorsed by former President Donald Trump, in the Michigan Senate race.
