Rob Schneider, known for his roles in films like “Grown Ups,” spoke about his challenging relationship with his daughter, Elle King, on the “Heretics” podcast hosted by Andrew Gold. Despite past difficulties, Schneider remains hopeful for a positive future with the country singer.

Schneider, 62, acknowledged past parenting failures, stating, “I wasn’t the dad she needed.” He also noted a broader issue in the United States where children return from college and feel disconnected from their parents.

In 2024, Elle King discussed her “toxic” childhood on BunnieXO’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast. She revealed instances when her father was “not nice” and periods where they wouldn’t communicate for years. King shared examples, such as Schneider forgetting her 18th birthday, leading to feelings of neglect.

Schneider expressed regret over their past interactions and stressed his willingness to reconcile. “The door’s open,” he stated, emphasizing love and availability as essential parental duties. He explained that forcing a relationship was not possible; openness was crucial.

Reflecting on guidance from a “higher power,” Schneider discussed overcoming attachment to fame. He highlighted Christianity’s emphasis on love and forgiveness as tools for personal peace, stressing that forgiveness is a gift for oneself.

Elle King’s representatives did not immediately comment on Schneider’s statements.
