The son of a prominent fashion mogul is facing scrutiny after his father died in a tragic accident. Jonathan Andic, whose father founded the global clothing brand Mango, contacted emergency services in distress as he reported that his father, Isak Andic, had fallen. The call, released by Spanish media, captures Jonathan pleading for immediate assistance, stating, “My father has fallen! We are in Collbató, he has fallen down a ravine, please send an ambulance.”
Isak Andic, 71, passed away while hiking near Barcelona with Jonathan, who was the lone witness to the incident. The elder Andic fell approximately 500 feet, resulting in his fatal injuries. Originally considered an accident, authorities have since initiated a homicide investigation, leading to Jonathan’s arrest in May. He was granted bail for one million euros and ordered to remain in Spain, surrendering his passport.
The Andic family continues to support Jonathan, with statements expressing confidence in his innocence. “There is no legitimate evidence against him, nor will any be found,” the family declared, emphasizing Jonathan’s denial of any wrongdoing.
The deceased, Isak Andic, was renowned for establishing Mango in 1984, which grew to rival other fashion giants like Zara. Under his leadership, Mango expanded into over 100 countries, cementing its place as a formidable retail presence. At his death, Isak was the non-executive chairman with an estimated net worth of $4.5 billion.
Jonathan, aged 45, is the eldest among Isak’s children and a significant figure in the family business, holding the role of vice-chairman. As the probe into his father’s death intensifies, the legal proceedings will be closely watched, continuing to unfold under the scrutiny of both media and the international business community.
