Recall of Frozen Cheese Breads for Salmonella Risk

3 weeks ago 0

A company from Michigan is recalling some of its frozen cheese breads due to potential salmonella contamination. The recall by Champion Foods involves certain batches of Motor City Pizza Co. 5 Cheese Bread. This action follows a recall of milk powder by California Dairies, Inc. over similar concerns. The powder is a component in the cheese sauce blend.

Salmonella can cause nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain in healthy individuals. It can be life-threatening for children and those with weakened immune systems. In rare cases, as per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the bacteria may spread to a patient’s blood, bones, urine, and organs.

The breads were distributed across the country in single and double packs at stores including Costco, Walmart, Giant Landover, Grocery Outlet, Jewel, Kroger, Schnucks, Target, C&S, Bozzuto’s, Brookshire Grocery, Meijer, Food City, KeHe, Lipari, Publix, Merchants Dis Hickory, PDI/Hy-Vee, River Valley, SpartanNash, Supervalu, and UNFI.
