President Trump Calls for Mass Firings in Intelligence Office

3 weeks ago 0

President Trump, on Friday, urged his temporary appointee, Bill Pulte, to oversee the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and conduct mass dismissals of employees who ‘shouldn’t be there.’ In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump stated that Pulte would be ‘less shackled’ compared to a permanent agency leader.

‘It sort of gives you more power, you know, for a somewhat limited period of time,’ the president remarked, shedding light on Pulte’s temporary role.

Trump’s comments reflect his expansive stance on Pulte, known for leading the Federal Housing Finance Agency, despite lacking national security experience. Pulte was announced as Trump’s choice to replace Tulsi Gabbard as the director of national intelligence.

Notably, Trump has decided not to submit Pulte for Senate confirmation for a permanent position. Having previously been Senate-confirmed for his current role, Pulte can perform his new duties for up to 210 days.

Additionally, over the past year, Pulte has actively pursued individuals and institutions Trump perceives as adversaries, accusing them of committing crimes. These include entities involved in investigations against Trump or institutions such as the Federal Reserve, which Trump claims operate with political biases against him.
