New Commemorative U.S. Passports Featuring Trump to Be Available Nationwide

Americans will soon have access to limited-edition U.S. passports that include an inside picture of President Donald Trump. These passports commemorate America’s 250th birthday, as announced by the State Department. Starting next month, the department’s 27 passport agencies across the country will offer these special travel documents. Previously, they were only available to in-person applicants at the Washington, D.C., passport office.

Trump is the first living president to be featured in a U.S. passport. The passports join a range of other high-profile items with Trump’s name and image, such as a commemorative coin from the U.S. Mint marking the country’s founding. There is also an initiative to include Trump’s signature on new U.S. paper currency, marking another first for a sitting president.

The Department of State is responding to substantial demand by releasing 250,000 additional commemorative passports for the public.

The passports, termed the ‘Patriot Passport’, will soon be accessible to Americans nationwide. Starting August 8, passport offices in cities like Centennial, Colorado; Chicago; Dallas; Detroit; New Orleans; New York; and Stamford, Connecticut, will host special one-day events to distribute the Trump passports. Additional locations will become available throughout August.

To obtain the special passport, individuals must apply in-person on the specified day as noted on the State Department’s passport website. Traditional passports will only be available on alternative days. The commemorative passport features Trump’s picture and a gold imprint of his signature on an interior page. The cover prominently displays ‘United States of America’ in bold gold print at the top and ‘Passport’ at the bottom, differing from the current standard design. Additionally, a small gold laminate American flag with the number 250 surrounded by stars appears at the back cover’s bottom.

Current U.S. passports showcase Mount Rushmore’s presidents — George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. They also display iconic American symbols like the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall in Philadelphia, along with imagery of diverse landscapes such as the Great Plains, mountains, and islands. Passports include quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Dwight Eisenhower.

Including Trump’s picture and signature in the passport book represents the latest effort to elevate the president’s visibility. This follows actions like signing the U.S. Institute of Peace building and Kennedy Center performing arts venue, though these signs were later removed due to a court order. Trump has also proposed constructing a new White House ballroom and a large arch at an entrance to Washington from Virginia.
