Odell Beckham Jr.’s Return to Giants: A Short-Lived Reunion

36 minutes ago 0

Odell Beckham Jr.’s recent stint with the New York Giants ended in silence, but his sentiments became clear through social media. After being released, Beckham initially appeared appreciative. However, a comment he made on a fan’s Instagram post revealed his frustration.

In today’s world, fans can openly criticize NFL teams, and Beckham joined the conversation. He agreed with the notion that the Giants used him, offering minimal compensation.

“I’m super smart! But I didn’t see this one, my brotha,” Beckham remarked. “They got me!”

During his original time with the Giants from 2014 to 2018, Beckham was a celebrated figure. His return was portrayed as a joyful reunion, despite Beckham not reclaiming his old jersey number. He played in three games but made no catches and was targeted just once.

Beckham signed a one-year veterans salary benefit deal, which let the Giants pay less than the veteran minimum with no guaranteed money. The deal valued at $1.3 million ended with Beckham’s release on September 29.

His release was hard to accept, especially when considering his family. Beckham wrote, “The truth that hurt my heart was coming home and seeing my son happy, unaware of what had happened.” His son’s pride in discussing Beckham’s career added to the personal impact of his release.

Beckham expressed disappointment in the Giants for not allowing him to explore other NFL opportunities before the season. “I could have played elsewhere and made an impact,” he stated.

Releasing a player is a typical part of NFL operations, and circumstances such as injuries might prompt a team to reconsider a previous player. However, public criticism might affect Beckham’s chances of a future return to the team.
