“I was fearing for my life,” said Jheyco Borda, a Marine veteran, recalling an intense confrontation captured on surveillance video. In Oxon Hill, Maryland, Borda fought off a group of teens who approached him, one pointing a gun at his face.
While Borda worked on his car, the ordinary day took a dangerous turn. “I saw the teens coming by,” Borda recounted. “One pointed a pistol at my head, demanded car keys, phone, everything I had.” Despite the tense moment, Borda wrestled the gun-wielding teen to the ground. Toward the end of the video, a gunshot rings out.
Six teens attacked Borda, with four males and two females involved. During the struggle, the teen’s gun discharged, piercing the back of Borda’s truck. Fortunately, nobody was injured.
Borda attributes his survival to his Marine Corps training. “I got prepared, adrenaline kicked in, and the training helped,” he said. His brother also aided by confronting the teens during the attack.
This attempted carjacking is not unprecedented on Borda’s street. Two years ago, a group stole a vehicle from the same location.
The Prince George’s County Police Department confirmed they have arrested two male teens and are investigating the involvement of four others in the incident.
