LSU vs. Alabama: Anticipation Builds for Daytime Showdown

57 minutes ago 0

LSU is enjoying a bye week before hosting No. 10 Alabama on November 7. The rivalry between the LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide is among the most eagerly awaited matchups in college football. Often featured in primetime, this year’s game will begin at 3:30 p.m. ET at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.

During a recent news conference, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin shared his dissatisfaction with the afternoon scheduling. He suggested that the SEC scheduled the game during the day to favor Alabama, highlighting that Tiger Stadium night games are especially tough for visiting teams.

“I was like, well, if someone thinks the SEC wants us to win this year after what’s been going on, they must have just been on Mars the last four months,” Kiffin remarked, via On3. “So I guess when I look at it that way, I’m not surprised,” he continued.

Kiffin also pointed out that for the past 16 years, this game has traditionally been played at night. He expressed surprise at the change, noting that it was possibly naive of him to assume otherwise.

The tension between LSU and the SEC extends beyond the field. Recent controversies involve LSU’s dealings with players who had prior interactions with NFL teams. These off-the-field issues exacerbate the rivalry as both teams vie for the SEC championship and College Football Playoff spots.

Despite not being scheduled at night, Tiger Stadium is expected to be vibrant and loud during the game. Alabama holds a decisive edge over LSU in recent matchups, winning the last three games and 13 of the past 15 encounters. LSU’s singular home victory in this series since 2010 came in 2022, when the Tigers claimed a 32-31 victory in overtime.
