2 hours ago 0

Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras proudly held the MVP trophy after his team’s victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in the baseball World Series. The event took place on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Brewers, hailing from the smallest market in Major League Baseball, emerged as champions for the first time in their history.

The Brewers secured the title with a 4-1 win in Game 5. Young pitcher Jacob Misiorowski delivered 5 2/3 innings without allowing a run. Rookie Cooper Pratt contributed with two hits and two RBIs. Thousands of Brewers fans were present at Tropicana Field to witness the historic moment.

Christian Yelich, team captain, expressed his joy by saying, “It’s the best feeling ever. All of our fans are here. I know the city’s waited a long, long time for this. We’re so happy to bring it home to them. I can’t wait to get back there and celebrate.”

World Series MVP William Contreras made an impact with an RBI double. Misiorowski faced some discomfort due to a right calf cramp but only allowed two hits before exiting the game. He received a standing ovation from Brewers fans. Cooper Pratt set a rookie record with six consecutive hits during the Series, ending with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Jackson Chourio achieved a Series record with 11 hits in five games.

Pratt shared his emotions by stating, “This is one of the greatest moments of my life. It doesn’t even feel real.” Making his major league debut in June, Pratt’s performance capped a remarkable rise in a short period.

The Brewers’ victory marks a significant milestone for a franchise that started as the Seattle Pilots in 1969 and relocated to Milwaukee in 1970. Although they reached the World Series in 1982, they faced disappointment with a Game 7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Under the guidance of manager Pat Murphy, who overcame serious health challenges, the team exemplified resilience. Murphy highlighted the team spirit by stating, “They deserve that because they were a team. They’re not worried about their own stats. No one cares about that. They care about coming together and winning tonight.”

Pitching ace Jacob Misiorowski distinguished himself by breaking the World Series velocity record, reaching 103.5 mph on the first pitch. After a tight extra-inning loss in Game 4, Misiorowski helped the Brewers rebound in Game 5. His efforts included leg cramps causing discomfort earlier in the season.

The Brewers owner, Mark Attanasio, addressed the fans saying, “Milwaukee has waited 44 years, and Milwaukee, you have your world championship.” Cooper Pratt continued his strong performance with hits and scored on a teammate’s single. His contributions included an RBI single and a sac fly that advanced the score.

In the Series, the Brewers and Rays hit a combined total of four home runs. Milwaukee led the major league with 103 wins during the season and maintained their momentum in the postseason, including a sweep of the Dodgers.

The franchise’s previous championship, in 1957, belonged to the Braves, who later moved to Atlanta. The Brewers fulfilled what previous Milwaukee teams, despite iconic players and figures, could not accomplish before.

Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash reflected on his players’ performance. Despite the team’s injuries and losses, Cash appreciated their good spirit and close-knit camaraderie.

This victory occurs amid tensions between MLB owners and the players’ association over salary cap concerns. Talks of a potential lockout might affect the upcoming season.
