Kelly Dodd Criticizes Andy Cohen’s Defense of ‘MAGA Women’ on ‘Real Housewives’

Kelly Dodd, a former star of “Real Housewives of Orange County,” has openly criticized Andy Cohen, host of Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live.” Her comments came after Cohen defended the presence of “MAGA women” on the show.

Cohen addressed queries on Threads about why there are “so many MAGA women” on the series, particularly the “Orange County” season.

“If we didn’t showcase people with different POVs, there would be no show. Also, it’s a show about the women and their relationships, not about politics,” Cohen wrote.

Dodd countered this statement, claiming Cohen and Bravo previously showed little interest in conservative perspectives. She accused Cohen of focusing now only on ratings.

“They’re making excuses that they need points of view when I don’t think that’s true,” Dodd said. “He doesn’t have different points of view. I think he’s full of s—.”

Dodd cited Cohen’s past critiques of conservative views and described his recent comments as insincere. She suggested Cohen’s motives were due to declining ratings and a need to regain some of his audience.

Cohen had agreed that “Real Housewives” is not politically driven, emphasizing its focus on the lives of the women involved.

“The show is not about politics. It’s about women’s lives,” Dodd reiterated.

Bravo and NBCUniversal abstained from commenting. Cohen’s representative also did not provide a statement.

Dodd, along with others, has exited the franchise following controversial remarks. She was removed from “Real Housewives of Orange County” in 2021 after comments about the COVID-19 pandemic and accusations related to mocking the Black Lives Matter movement.

Former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Annemarie Wiley also spoke about her issues with the show. She claimed she faced a negative portrayal due to her conservative stance on certain issues.

Wiley stated, “I was given a terrible edit by Bravo, and I found out after the season was finished when they didn’t invite me back.” She attributed her portrayal and departure to her conservative views.

In early 2026, NBCUniversal highlighted Bravo’s status as a leading cable entertainment network among key female demographics relative to streaming on Peacock. Despite this, the “Real Housewives” franchise has reportedly witnessed a drop in ratings in recent years.
