Hayden Panettiere, a well-known actor, has passed away at 36, her father, Skip Panettiere, announced Sunday night. In his statement, he expressed the family’s profound sadness over her sudden death. The statement was shared by Panettiere’s representative.
The cause and manner of her death have not been disclosed. Her publicist, Kasey Kitchen, indicated that an investigation is underway. “There’s an investigation ongoing,” Kitchen stated. “We should know more tomorrow.”
This year, Panettiere publicly shared her struggles with postpartum depression and addiction. These challenges contributed to her decision to relinquish custody of her daughter, Kaya Evdokia Klitschko, in 2018. Kaya is the child she had with former partner, Ukrainian professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
Panettiere recently released a memoir titled “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” which attracted attention for its candid revelations, including insights into her past relationships. In 2024, she opened up about experiencing profound loss following the unexpected death of her younger brother, actor Jansen Panettiere. He passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition the previous year. She expressed the deep impact of his loss, saying, “When you lose somebody that you saw in all the important moments in your life, standing right next to you, it just rocks your world,” during an interview on the NBC’s “TODAY” show.
Born and raised in Palisades, New York, Panettiere was involved in acting from an early age, according to her Television Academy biography. She began her career at just 11 months old by appearing in television commercials.
Her acting career included roles on soap operas such as “One Life to Live” and “Guiding Light.” By age four, she was already a part of the acting industry. She lent her voice to “A Bug’s Life” and appeared in notable films like “Remember the Titans” and “Bring It On: All or Nothing.”
Panettiere’s portrayal of Juliette Barnes on “Nashville” was one of her most influential roles. Before this, she was recognized for her role as Claire Bennet on the show “Heroes.” During her “Nashville” tenure, she faced the pressures of motherhood and the challenge of postpartum depression, which she admitted were overwhelming at times.
