Selma Blair, known for her roles in films like Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde, and Hellboy, was taken into custody following an incident on a flight from Los Angeles to New York. The incident occurred on a Delta Air Lines flight that landed at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport.

Authorities reported that Blair, 54, was physically abusive and injured two flight attendants. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed she was apprehended late Sunday night after the plane parked at the gate.

Neither Blair’s representatives nor the airline provided an immediate response for comments. Both Blair and a flight attendant received medical evaluations at a hospital, according to the Port Authority.

The FBI, responsible for investigating assaults aboard aircraft, stated they were informed of the incident by the Port Authority Police Department. However, they chose not to comment further due to an ongoing investigation. Sydney Kleinmann, an FBI NY spokesperson, reiterated this long-standing Department of Justice policy.

New York state and federal prosecutors and Blair’s publicist did not respond to requests for comments. However, a Blair representative mentioned that a medical emergency led to Blair’s behavior.

Blair is a prominent advocate for disability rights, especially after her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 2018. She has been involved in significant events, including a 2023 celebration at the White House for the Americans with Disabilities Act’s anniversary, alongside President Joe Biden.

In 2016, Blair issued an apology for mixing alcohol with medication on a flight from Cancun to Los Angeles, which led to her blackout.

Associated Press journalist Michael R. Sisak contributed to this report.
