Fatal Shooting During Custody Exchange in Covina

On a Tuesday evening, a violent incident occurred during a child custody exchange at the Home Depot parking lot on Badillo Street in Covina. Police reported that a man was fatally shot during the confrontation.

The Covina Police Department received a call about the shooting at 6:06 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene at 963 West Badillo Street, authorities found a large group assembled for the custody exchange. Initial investigations indicated that a dispute erupted between two males in the group.

The argument quickly escalated into violence when one of the men drew a firearm and shot the other. Despite rapid medical intervention by first responders, the victim did not survive and was declared dead at the scene.

The shooter was taken into custody without incident, according to police. The Covina Police Department has stated that the case is still under investigation.
