British Man Released on Bail Amid RAF Fairford Security Investigation

A 22-year-old British man arrested in London earlier this week on suspicion of a terror offense has been released on bail, according to British counterterrorism police. He is the seventh person to be arrested in connection with a security incident linked to Iran, targeting RAF Fairford, a base previously used by American forces to launch attacks during the ongoing war with Iran.

The man, arrested in Westminster on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006, is under “strict bail conditions.” Police confirmed all seven arrested in the investigation remain on bail while specialist teams continue exploring all leads. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The decision to grant bail for the first six men was criticized by President Trump. He suggested Iran’s possible involvement, stating that U.S. and U.K. authorities were collaborating closely. “We would not have released them,” he asserted.

Increased security measures at RAF Fairford in Fairford, England, include concrete block installations near the main gate following a major incident. On Sept. 27, scores of residents were evacuated from their homes, located about 100 miles west of London, when armed police and army bomb-disposal experts raided the rural area. Authorities discovered gasoline in three vans linked to the first five suspects but reported no explosives.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham mentioned “strong indications” of Iran’s involvement, though details of the suspected plot have not been disclosed. Iran, denying any role in the incident, has previously noted bases used for attacks on its territory are considered legitimate targets.

The U.S. relocated its B-52 and B-1 bombers from Fairford on Sunday, with unclear connections to the arrests. President Trump explained the move aimed to avoid tempting “the enemy,” reducing threats possibly linked to Iran but offered no specifics.
