Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott marked the company’s 30th anniversary by ringing the Closing Bell at Nasdaq MarketSite in New York City. The celebration highlighted Fox News Channel’s debut on October 7, 1996, and brought together original hosts and current executives.
Suzanne Scott expressed the honor of celebrating this milestone at Nasdaq, reflecting on three decades of Fox News growth from a single network to a comprehensive digital and streaming platform. The vision originally set forth by Rupert Murdoch has expanded under the leadership of Lachlan Murdoch, reaching over 200 million people monthly.
Three decades ago, Fox Corporation Chairman Emeritus Rupert Murdoch launched Fox News with an ambitious idea to give audiences another voice in the national conversation and to build a news organization that provided balance to all Americans.
Scott emphasized the importance of the dedicated team behind Fox News’s success, from journalists to technicians, and recognized the viewers who have made the channel a part of their daily lives. She highlighted the evolving media landscape and Fox News’s commitment to embracing new technology and platforms.
Today, as we celebrate 30 years of stories reported and analyzed, and history witnessed at each turn, we also look ahead because the next chapter of media is being shaped right now by new technology, new platforms, and new ways of connecting with audiences.
Suzanne Scott joined Fox News in its inaugural year and became CEO in 2018, leading the channel to a strong position in cable ratings. Her initiatives include launching FOX News Books, refreshing digital and audio brands, and introducing new streaming services like FOX Nation and FOX Weather.
The Nasdaq ceremony, featuring red, white, and blue confetti, included Scott halting market transactions and receiving a commemorative crystal from Nasdaq Executive Vice President Jeff Thomas, who praised Fox News as a prominent media brand worldwide.
Under Scott’s leadership, the expansion into diverse media platforms continues, reinforcing Fox News’s influence and reach across the industry.
