Senator Bernie Sanders chose not to address questions about allegations against Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner from Maine. On Tuesday, while at the Capitol, Sanders remained silent when Fox News Digital inquired whether he believed the women accusing Platner of misconduct.
As Sanders awaited an elevator, a reporter asked if he supported the allegations against Platner, given Sanders’ prior campaigning for him. Sanders did not offer any comments on the accusations.
“Senator, do you believe the women accusing Platner of abuse?” Fox News Digital asked.
The reporter also questioned Sanders about a controversial tattoo linked to Platner that has drawn criticism in his campaign. The senator did not respond when asked about Platner’s awareness of a Nazi-linked tattoo.
Graham Platner, a Marine veteran and oyster farmer, continues to defend himself against allegations and retains backing from notable Democrats such as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren.
Despite the controversies, Platner has denied all wrongdoing. He faces scrutiny over accusations of abusive behavior, explicit messages, offensive social media content, and the tattoo controversy.
Platner’s campaign challenges Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine for her seat. The Maine Democratic primary will determine Platner’s viability as a candidate against Collins in a closely watched Senate race.
