Smith emphasized the importance of Robinson’s presence in the Finals during his conversation with colleagues Jay Williams and Brian Windhorst.

“They’re supposed to be resting and getting treatment,” stated Smith. “Mitchell Robinson, you need to be ready for the Finals. A pinkie injury should not keep you out!”

Smith drew parallels to former NFL player Ronnie Lott, who once continued playing despite a finger injury. Although Robinson has his limitations, such as a 50 percent free-throw shooting rate, he excels in rebounding and defense. Smith was adamant about Robinson’s participation, stating the need for him to be ready to face formidable opponents.
