Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota) secured over $1.5 million in campaign donations immediately following a federal search of her Washington home. This significant fundraising achievement was highlighted in a Washington Post
analysis, forming part of the nearly $1.9 million Omar reported raising in the initial weeks of October, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
On October 12, the day of the raid, Omar raised $847,000—the highest amount in a single day this election cycle. She collected an additional $665,000 the following day. To date, Omar has amassed over $8 million during the two-year campaign period.
The raid was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations as part of a broader inquiry into whether Omar or her deceased father falsified immigration documents submitted upon their arrival in the U.S. in the 1990s. Omar relocated with her family at age 12 and consistently denies purported misconduct, labeling the raid as political intimidation.
Omar is actively requesting donations to cover forthcoming legal expenses, stating via social media, “It is going to be a very expensive and challenging time.”
