IndyCar rookie Caio Collet experienced a frightening crash during the closing stages of the Indianapolis 500. Felix Rosenqvist and Pato O’Ward were in a fierce competition for first place when Collet’s incident occurred.
Collet lost control in Turn 2 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He overcorrected, causing his vehicle to slam into the wall. The right rear caught fire as he skidded across the track and onto the grass.

Emergency crews swiftly responded, extinguishing the fire and assisting Collet from the car. Fortunately, he walked away unharmed. However, officials halted the race with a red flag, allowing drivers a brief respite before resuming the competition.
Unfortunately, Collet’s crash meant he would not finish the race. The rookie, driving for A.J. Foyt Racing, was participating in his first Indy 500. He had moved up to the NTT IndyCar Series after securing second place in last year’s Indy NXT Series.
Collet has not yet achieved a top-10 finish in the standings, where he holds 70 points across six starts. Despite his potential, his season thus far has been challenging.

The 2026 Indy 500 saw intense competition, with over 50 lead changes. Felix Rosenqvist emerged victorious on the final lap, marking one of the most competitive races in recent history.
