The recent removal of the ‘Blue’ sculpture at the Kennedy Center has been a point of contention among art enthusiasts. The sculpture, created by Joel Shapiro, held a place of inspiration at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. On Wednesday, workers removed this artwork, aligning with directives to clear the outdoor campus of art installations.
This decision followed an order from Richard Grenell, appointed by former President Donald Trump to oversee the center. Grenell’s directive instructed the curator of visual arts and special programming to remove all outdoor artworks from the center’s grounds.
