The National Park Service is requesting information concerning hikers and backpackers who were in the Grand Canyon National Park during a recent flash flood. The flood impacted parts of the park over the weekend and led to several missing individuals.
Remnants of stone bridge pylons can be observed along Bright Angel Creek, marking the destruction of a footbridge during Saturday’s flood. Officials have reported that over 20 persons are either missing or unaccounted for due to what is described as a significant flash flood.
Individuals who visited the park sections affected by the flood, especially those with campground reservations, are urged to contact the National Park Service. Authorities are conducting efforts to locate and identify those who may have been in the area during the flood event.
