President Donald Trump has indicated he may support Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel’s upcoming elections. Despite previous public disagreements over Iran and Lebanon, Trump suggested he is inclined to endorse Netanyahu.
In an interview with Israeli public broadcaster KAN News, Trump expressed his preference for Netanyahu, known as Bibi. He stated, I’ll have to look at who’s running, but I like Bibi very much. I would be most likely to endorse him,
while also acknowledging the need to see other candidates.
Trump highlighted his positive relationship with Netanyahu but urged the Israeli leader to adopt a more rational approach. He mentioned his willingness to meet with Netanyahu and acknowledged the Israeli leader’s successful efforts, albeit with necessary adjustments.

The comments followed Trump’s increased criticism of Netanyahu, amid ongoing U.S. diplomatic efforts involving Iran and Lebanon. Axios reported Trump’s frustration with Netanyahu’s actions in Lebanon, even describing the Israeli leader in harsh terms during a phone conversation. Despite this, Trump affirmed his overall good working relationship with Netanyahu.
After an Israeli airstrike in Beirut nearly disrupted a U.S.-Iran agreement, Trump expressed his anger but maintained the Iran deal’s progression. He characterized their recent disagreements as minor, attributing them to Netanyahu’s occasionally excitable nature.
