A man dressed as a zombie was accused of stabbing two people at The Buzz Mill, a coffee shop in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday night. He fled the scene in a pickup truck, subsequently crashing into an unoccupied vehicle. The suspect, identified by the Austin Police Department (APD) as 20-year-old Shankar Temple Grace, was arrested following a search.
The incident occurred just before a local comedy show was set to commence at The Buzz Mill. According to officials, police were alerted to a ‘disturbance hot shot’ inside the establishment. This term is used for incidents that pose an immediate threat to life or involve serious physical harm.
“A man attacked two people at The Buzz Mill shortly before a comedy show was scheduled to begin,” police stated.
Responding officers and emergency teams found one individual with life-threatening injuries and another with injuries not threatening to life. Both victims were transported to a hospital and were reported to be in stable condition.
After the attack, the suspect quickly left in a pickup truck, later striking an unmanned autonomous vehicle. Officers conducted a search and found Grace approximately three miles from The Buzz Mill on a walking trail.
Witnesses reported to police that the assailant was dressed in a Halloween costume as a zombie, complete with face makeup. Additionally, those at the venue stated that the individual had previously caused a disturbance before the stabbing.
Shankar Temple Grace was booked into Travis County Jail. He faces two aggravated assault charges with a deadly weapon, classified as second-degree felonies.
