In the Coney Island neighborhood of Brooklyn, a man wearing a black ski mask opened fire during a family barbecue. Eight people were wounded, including four children. Most victims are expected to recover, but a 21-year-old woman remains in critical condition due to a chest wound. New York City police are actively searching for the shooter who fled the scene.
Pensacola, Florida
A 19-year-old was shot dead and six others injured in downtown Pensacola shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday. Pensacola Police Chief Eric Winstrom stated that the shooting appeared targeted. The victims’ ages ranged from 16 to 26, highlighting the presence of many young individuals outside unaccompanied that night.
Fort Wayne, Indiana
At around 3 a.m. on Sunday, a shooting in Fort Wayne resulted in one woman’s death. Eight others suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. Police found the victims on the 2200 block of Oliver Street.
Compton, California
A large Fourth of July gathering at an apartment complex led to a shooting incident, leaving a man and woman dead. Three others were injured, with one man in critical condition. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the event, which occurred late Saturday night on West Laurel Street.
Dayton, Ohio
In Dayton’s Oregon District, known for nightlife, four people sustained non-life-threatening injuries following a shooting on July 3 after businesses had closed. The Oregon District Business Association confirmed that the area was devoid of security and police when the incident took place.
Canton, Ohio
A 46-year-old woman was critically injured in Canton after being shot while in bed. The shooting occurred due to celebratory gunfire at a holiday celebration. A suspect, Darius J. Leishman, was arrested and charged with felonious assault.
St. Louis, Missouri
A midnight shooting on Linton Avenue resulted in a 17-year-old boy’s death. Two other 16-year-old boys were also injured and admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Chino, California
A fireworks explosion in Chino killed one person and critically injured two others. Responding to a vehicle fire reported at 8:30 p.m., authorities found several injured individuals due to a fireworks blast. Derion Tradon James Jr. was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.
