Despite his opposition to socialism, Vance emphasized the importance of conservatives understanding why young people seem drawn to it. He criticized recent economic trends, noting how reliance on low-wage foreign labor through illegal immigration and outsourcing has contributed to a growing interest in socialism.

Vance remarked, “We were left in quite a hole by 40 years of bad policy,” arguing that bipartisan failures have led to economic challenges that cannot solely be blamed on recent Democratic administrations.
