Unveiling Jude Hall’s Legacy in Washington D.C.

Freedom Plaza, prominently located on Pennsylvania Avenue, serves as a significant hub in Washington, D.C. Connecting the White House and the U.S. Capitol, it offers a unique insight into the city’s architectural and political blueprint.

The plaza showcases a large-scale replica of the original “L’Enfant Plan” for Washington. This embedded feature draws visitors into an intricate interplay of expansive avenues and local streets, reflecting the balance between federal and local power as outlined in the Constitution.

A notable installation in Freedom Plaza, titled “Spirit of ’76 at Freedom Plaza,” includes a statue of Jude Hall. Hall, a Black soldier in the Revolutionary War, is prominently featured in this semiquincentennial project.
