Negotiations took place quietly between officials from the U.S., Greenland, and Denmark. Denmark’s Perspective

Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen confirmed the tripartite agreement will be signed during the United Nations General Assembly. However, Danish and Greenland parliament approval is needed before enforcement. Frederiksen highlighted the agreement’s respect for Greenland’s sovereignty and the people’s right to self-determination.

Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen affirmed the deal’s benefits for all parties involved and its acknowledgment of Greenland’s interests.
