Ty Simpson Shines in NFL Debut with the Los Angeles Rams

Simpson delivered an impressive performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in his first professional game. Starting the day on a strong note, he played three quarters after Stetson Bennett took the first quarter. Simpson completed 21 of 25 passes, unlocking 190 yards and throwing 2 touchdowns, resulting in a superb 125.0 passer rating.

Head coach Sean McVay expressed pride in Simpson’s performance: “It was a really good day for him. I just felt like he was in good command and it was nice to see a smile on his face.”

The expectations for preseason games are often met with caution since preseason success does not always translate to regular season performance. Critics initially doubted Simpson’s capabilities, questioning his arm strength and deep ball accuracy. He pointed out a learning moment during a third-down play, indicating Simpson might have had better options. “There was one situation that will be a great learning opportunity on third down where they played a man coverage and he threw it to the flat,” McVay explained.
