Twin Babies Comfort Each Other to Sleep: A Heartwarming Routine

1 hour ago 0

A mother from Long Island, MariLuz Roth, has shared how her twin girls, Maple and Fiona, comfort each other to sleep. She captured their routine, where the 2-year-old twins talk, read, and cuddle before falling asleep face-to-face. This nightly routine is meaningful for MariLuz, a developmental specialist, as it reflects their time in the womb.

“This is how they fall asleep most nights,” MariLuz mentioned to Newsweek. “It almost feels like that’s simply their default setting.” Despite no secret technique behind it, MariLuz emphasizes the value of a consistent routine, saying, “Every family is different, and parents should do what feels right for them. The one exception I truly believe benefits every child is having a consistent, predictable routine.”

Post dinner, the twins bid goodnight to their father, Glenn, and then settle with books and conversations. What begins as a short story often extends, as the family pauses to discuss pictures and create their own stories. MariLuz shared, “Most nights they spend anywhere from a few minutes to quite a while talking to each other, playing quietly or reading together before naturally drifting off to sleep.”

The twins’ bond has been strong since infancy. Initially co-sleeping with their mother, they transitioned to their own room at around 10 months old. Their cribs were placed side by side, as they were most content when close, often reaching through the rails to hold hands. As they grew, their bond matured naturally. “There really wasn’t one moment when they suddenly started helping each other fall asleep,” said MariLuz. “It happened naturally.”

Sharing this precious footage on Instagram (@doublethemilestones), the video went viral, reaching 1.3 million views. Many viewers described the routine as “precious” and “beautiful.” Reflecting on their innate care for each other, MariLuz expressed, “I didn’t want to interrupt it, I wanted to nurture it.” As they grow, their emotional awareness continues to surprise her. “They instinctively comfort each other when one is upset, celebrate each other’s accomplishments, and genuinely seem happiest when they’re together.”

Documenting these moments online, MariLuz hopes to remind people of the innocence, empathy, and love intrinsic to childhood. “In a world where we’re constantly exposed to negativity, I hoped these moments might bring people back to something gentle and hopeful,” she shared.
