Although it wasn’t labeled as such, the offerings included crossword collections, Sudoku puzzles, and memory games. These activities pledged to enhance mental acuity. In later years, adult coloring books joined the assortment, each claiming to help maintain a sharp mind.

The belief was that engaging in these mental exercises led to tangible cognitive improvements. However, new evidence is challenging this idea, showing that only specific kinds of training may be effective.

This development invites a closer look at how cognitive training should be approached and what activities truly support brain health.
