In August, I made a trip to Big Bend National Park to observe the changes occurring along the U.S.-Mexico border. The experience was unsettling. Previously undisturbed land is now undergoing significant disruption due to construction efforts.
Big Bend National Park and Mexico share a stretch of border extending 118 miles. Despite the physical boundary, the area does not project the typical barriers associated with borders. The natural expanse creates an open, uninterrupted environment.
This transformation raises questions about the impact on the ecosystem and the implications for preservation efforts. As construction continues, the balance between maintaining security and preserving natural beauty poses a challenge.
