While not claiming to be Rex Nelson, I engage in public speaking frequently. Addressing audiences does not intimidate me much. However, the pre-event situations create discomfort. The need to engage in small talk with new acquaintances can be awkward. Ensuring the microphone functions properly is another concern. Often, I question why I agreed to the particular topic for the speech.
