The Protect College Sports Act was approved in the Senate with a vote of 77-22. The bill, which aims to reform college athletics, now moves to the House. The House is currently divided on the extent of Congressional intervention needed in college sports.
Sponsored by Senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Maria Cantwell of Washington, the legislation seeks to bring order to a system significantly changed by athlete payments, frequent transfers, and legal battles over recent years.
