A small law firm in Texas has pulled out of contention for a federal contract valued at $150 million, intended for providing legal representation to unaccompanied migrant children.
In a statement on social media this Tuesday, the Burke Law Group revealed they had been contacted by the Trump administration. The administration sought their assistance to address a shortage in legal services. Although the firm had initially considered applying for a smaller portion of the grant, they have now chosen to step back.
This decision follows criticisms directed at the administration’s initial intention to award the contract without competitive bidding, which raised concerns among advocacy groups.
