2 weeks ago 0

A Texas father has shared his grief after his 17-year-old son was fatally stabbed at a high school track meet. Austin Metcalf, a junior at Memorial High School in Frisco, died following an altercation reportedly over seating arrangements. The alleged attacker, 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony from another school, has been charged with murder.

Jeff Metcalf, Austin’s father, expressed the depth of his loss. On Fox News’ “America Reports,” he stated, “My son is gone, and he’ll never come home again.” Austin was described as the light of his father’s life.

“Austin was the light of my life.” – Jeff Metcalf

Austin died in the arms of his twin brother, Hunter, who tried to stop the bleeding. Jeff Metcalf reflected on the strong bond between his sons, “They were so tight. They had the best bond. They were best friends.” Now, Metcalf must focus on caring for Hunter.

The Metcalf family urges the public not to attribute racial or political motives to the incident. “I want to clarify something right off to start because I’ve already heard some rumors and gossip. This was not a race thing. This is not a political thing,” stated Jeff Metcalf.

Austin was an honor student, talented athlete, and compassionate individual. His social media profile showed a 3.97 GPA, and he attended multiple football camps. His father described him as someone who “lit up the room everywhere he went.”

A vigil at the family’s church drew hundreds in his memory. Jeff Metcalf credits his faith for helping him cope, saying, “I rely heavily on my faith to get me through this.” Despite his grief, he has chosen forgiveness, believing it provides peace. “The forgiveness is not for him. The forgiveness is for me so I can have peace,” he shared.

The weekend before the tragedy, Jeff and his sons spent time hunting together. He recalled their last conversation: Austin promised to help with yard work and said, “I love you, Dad,” to which Jeff responded, “I love you too, son.” Those words would be their last exchange.

The suspect, a student-athlete from Frisco Centennial High School, faces murder charges. Madison writes for Fox News Digital on the Flash team.
