Taylor Fresh Foods, the company behind Taylor Farms, has announced a voluntary recall of certain products containing jalapeños due to possible salmonella contamination. This action follows a recent recall of iceberg lettuce from central Mexico linked to a multistate cyclospora outbreak affecting people across the U.S.
The decision to recall these products was prompted by Coast Citrus Distributors’ own voluntary recall of fresh jalapeños for similar contamination concerns. The recalled items from Taylor Farms include prepared foods like guacamole, pico de gallo, and taco dip.
These products were distributed in multiple states and have a “Best If Used By” date up to August 16, 2026. They were available at major retailers such as Kroger, Stop & Shop, Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), alongside state and local bodies, are investigating salmonella infections tied to jalapeños from Coast Citrus Distributors. A grower from Sinaloa, Mexico, was identified as a possible source of these infections.
Taylor Fresh Foods has stopped sourcing from this particular grower and is now using alternative suppliers. Currently, no illnesses related to Taylor Farms’ jalapeño products have been reported.
Consumers should dispose of any recalled products immediately and are advised not to consume them. Refunds can be obtained at the purchase location.
