Sean Ono Lennon Welcomes First Child, Marking a Family Milestone

Sean Ono Lennon has taken on a new role as a father. The 50-year-old, known for being the son of the Beatles’ legend, John Lennon, shared on Tuesday that he and his partner have welcomed a child, bringing a new generation into the iconic family. This birth represents John Lennon’s first grandchild.

On social media, Sean composed an enthusiastic announcement: “Okay so…Charlotte and I would like to announce that we have indeed created a Human Bean! His name is, Aurelius! Thank you!” The name Aurelius translates to “golden” in Latin. Sean has been in a long-time relationship with Charlotte Kemp Muhl, a model and musician aged 39, with whom he performs in the band Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger.

Sean is the son of John Lennon’s second wife, Yoko Ono, who is now 93. She was the iconic musician’s partner when he tragically passed away on the Upper West Side in December 1980, due to an attack by a deranged fan. Prior to Sean, John had a son named Julian Lennon, now 63 years old, from his first marriage to Cynthia Lennon.

Julian Lennon shared insights in a 2011 Telegraph interview, explaining how his father’s example influenced his decisions regarding parenthood. Julian remarked, “He was young and didn’t know what the hell he was doing. That’s the reason I haven’t had children yet. I didn’t want to do the same thing.”

In highlighting the family’s continuation, baby Aurelius is John’s only known grandson. Sean proudly shared multiple images of his new son on Instagram. Julian, becoming an uncle for the first time, posted pictures of his half-brother and nephew, accompanying them with four red heart emojis.

The happy news drew attention from friends and admirers. Actor and Bijou Phillips, the daughter of the late Mamas & the Papas singer John Phillips, left a “Beautiful!” comment. Several other known figures—director Jim Jarmusch, comedian Whitney Cummings, socialite Paris Hilton, and actor Lindsay Lohan—also sent their congratulations to Lennon and Muhl through Instagram.
