School Districts Adjust Schedules Amid Rising Temperatures

6 days ago 0

More school districts are beginning their academic year in July or August. This shift increases the chance that children will face extreme heat during school activities.

For instance, in Lansing, Michigan, a playground for younger children is a busy spot despite high temperatures.

In July 2026, temperatures in Phoenix reached 117 degrees Fahrenheit, equivalent to 47 degrees Celsius. Even with these soaring temperatures, children in the area engaged in outdoor activities such as walking to school, playing during recess, and participating in baseball practice.
