The Russian Telegram channel Fighterbomber, which provides updates on aviation activity related to the Ukraine War, stated, “In the Kursk region, two Sukhoi Su-35S fighter jets crashed, and the circumstances are being determined.”
A follow-up post included an image showing the smoky remains of one aircraft on the ground at an undisclosed location. This image quickly circulated on social media platforms.
Another Russian Telegram channel, Voevoda Veshaet, confirmed that one pilot died, while the other survived the crash. The Russian defense ministry has been contacted by Newsweek for their comments.
